About

I didn’t grow up travelling.
I grew up learning how to be careful.
I’m an Indian woman, a mother, and someone who comes from a conservative background where freedom was quiet and conditional. Travel wasn’t something I imagined for myself — until life slowly expanded my world.
The Second Map is where I document that expansion.
This space is about family travel, mom–daughter journeys, and exploring the world without luxury budgets or perfect itineraries. We travel thoughtfully, choosing experiences over extravagance, and memories over checklists.
More than places, this blog is about what travel teaches us:
Courage that grows slowly
Confidence passed from mother to daughter
The freedom to choose differently, even later in life
You’ll find stories from our travels across Asia, Australia, and India — beaches, cities, quiet towns, and moments in between. Honest reflections, practical notes, and the kind of travel that fits real families.
This blog isn’t about escaping life.
It’s about meeting it fully.
Welcome to The Second Map.
